[Fujiya & Miyagi: On Tour]
"No more pussyfootin around, no more pussyfootin."

I've clumsily managed to lose track of the days recently, but I'm guessing we're not on the same week as the fantastic release of the decievingly non-Japanese, non-duo Fujiya & Miyagi's latest, "Lightbulbs." Nevermind the tardiness, chances are if you found yourself here reading this far into the post, you haven't heard much of it. In "Lightbulbs," the Brighton-based trio have a surplus of new subjects to lace in bellicose whispers and vague wordings. Fans of the trio have nothing to miss from the old and everything to love in the new, so anyone that fell in love with Transparent things should have no qualms about picking up this new album. Strong rhythms, persistent beats - despite having such aggressive components, Fujiya & Miyagi's sound carries an overall demeanor of laid-back ease. It's ethereal, yet sharp. It just digs right into your skin with such deftness that chances are you won't even notice yourself moving to their music. Overall, Fujiya & Miyagi packages a sound that's geometric, funky and sleek. The trio will be kicking off their tour in support of "Lightbulbs" this Thursday in Milan, criss-crossing and sidestepping Europe and the US from now until December. Their US dates are sparse (and sadly don't include Austin), so if you're lucky enough to have them stroll through, be sure to catch them!
