I don't know how it is where you are, but here in Austin, we're just now getting ready for the cooler, fall months. So as summer ends and the days grow shorter, I bring to you the recessing sounds of Beach House to lull you into the sleep of seasons. Victoria Legrand and Alex Scally form the Baltimore duo that is Beach House, and Beach House is rather much like an old family vacation movie reel. The aura that manifests from Beach House is a lot like an aged, hazy memory; Beach House is hazy pop rock. With echoing vocals, a rocking-you-to-relaxation tempo, and hushed lyrics, closing your eyes to their music can only conjure up those old reels and slides full of dust, speckles, cuts and, of course, that faded color of memories past. It's the golden years, the innocent times. You're just lying there on the sandy beach absorbing the warmth of the declining day as the organ's echoes wash over each other like the waves. It's quiet; coming to you from the other end of the shore are the hushing vocals of Legrand, and the fuzzy keys press to twinkle the stars that are ushering in the cool, breezy night behind her. Do you get it now? Because that, my friends, is Beach House. Beach House's self-titled album holds a release date of October 3, and the group has plans for a rather extensive fall Americanada tour with support from the rather complementary, in both sound and namesake, Over The Atlantic.
