Girl Talk's latest album, Feed the Animals, was made available for download on June 19, 2008 (the album will be released in hard copy on September 23 -- download it here). You can pay whatever you want for it, just like for Radiohead's In Rainbows. However, on March 19, someone posted a fake leak of the upcoming album. Greg Gillis (Girl Talk) told everyone on his Myspace that he had nothing to do with it, blah blah blah, tell everyone you know it's not me, it's fake, blah blah. The general response to his message went a little something like "Omg, I can't believe people thought it was you, you're so much better, that leak was so crappy, I will suck your dick for free."
Well I've listened to both albums, beginning to end, and I am here to tell you that the fake Girl Talk album is really not that bad. It's actually not bad at all. It's actually good.
Turns out the faker's a Girl Talk fan and copycat who goes by Speaky. I read a posted note by Speaky apologizing for the whole incident insisting that it was an accident and that the posted fake was actually his latest album, Mashcore Volume 2. But since that note may also be a fake, I have decided not to repost it. Instead I will post music both from Girl Talk and his crazy Stan fan Speaky in a three-round-winner-takes-all-battle-to-the-death.
ROUND 1
"The Big Opener"
Fake Girl Talk- Mystery Hypnosis
Girl Talk- Play Your Part (Pt. 1)
WINNER: Fake Girl Talk
ROUND 2
"Paying Homage"
Fake Girl Talk- Hey Yum Yum
Girl Talk- Give Me a Beat
WINNER: Real Girl Talk
ROUND 3
"The Big Closer"
Fake Girl Talk- Crazy Like Oh
Girl Talk- Play Your Part (Pt. 2)
WINNER: Real Girl Talk
So, duh, the real Girl Talk is still supreme, but don't feel guilty just 'cause you enjoyed Speaky and then found out he was fake. It's like you're married to an identical twin and then you accidentally fucked his less-experienced, slightly less attractive brother. Don't be ashamed just 'cause you thought it was him.
