[The Lovely Sparrows + And The Winner Is]
[My Sketchbook Feels Thin, The Frame Will Come Later I'm Afraid]

Within the neatly-folded, envelope-like cardboard sleeve are the flightly sounds of The Lovely Sparrows - that's Sparrows, not Feathers. Perhaps it still sounds familiar. Despite the limited distribution of their self-released 7" Take Your Hats Off, You Godless Bastards, The Lovely Sparrows managed to get a rather hefty amount of love from bloggers. Now under San Fracisco-based label Abandoned Love Records, the Austinite quartet released their debut EP, Pulling Up Floors, Pouring On (New) Paint, earlier this month. Ah yes, Austin. The Lovely Sparrows, however, manage a stride of a different step as their songs carry a folk-inflected, pop rock demeanor - a sound not as common in the music mecca that is Austin. The quartet's songs showcase a skill in the use of the simple acoustics of a guitar, and then they go on to craftfully utilize instruments from the age-old piano to bare handclaps. Lush, witty and rather fresh. Enjoy the rest of your weekend everyone...
